Join Pet Nurture’s Fearful-to-Friendly classes for cat guardians eager to help their shy cats flourish!

Have you recently adopted a nervous or shy cat from a shelter, rescue or breeder? If so, this three-week virtual course provides a solid foundation to help your timid or fearful feline thrive. Whether your cat hides all day, is scared of noises, or retreats when visitors arrive, these classes are designed to help.

This course, designed by a cat behaviourist nurse, teaches how a fearful cat’s genetics, early life experiences, and environment influence their behaviour. You’ll discover effective training methods to help build their confidence and trust. Gain skills in interpreting subtle signals, using body language effectively, and more!

Course Topics Include:

• The relationship between learning and behaviour through the lens of a shy cat.
• Desensitisation and counterconditioning exercises for socialisation and basic handling
• Trust exercises
• Clicker training
• Developing skills to observe body language
• Using your body language to enhance your cat’s trust
• Natural remedies and therapies to cultivate a sense of calmness and trust

Class Schedule and Prerequisites:

• Suitable for kittens from 6 weeks to adults and senior cats. There is no maximum age limit.
• The course fee is $175.
• Clicker/Target training tool included in the price.
• 3 weekly live online classes (one-on-one), each lasting one to one and a half hours.
• 2026 intakes are Saturday 28th February, Saturday 09th May, Friday 26th June, Saturday 29th August and Saturday 31st October.
• Classes are held online via the Zoom platform
• Your skittish cat only needs to attend one class

At Pet Nurture, they only use positive training methods and tools. They do not support the use of aversive training.

Please note that these training classes are not intended for:

• Feral cats
• Cats who display significant behavioural issues.
