Patches and Pointed Inc. Cat of the Year 2023 Show

Patches and Pointed Inc. Cat of the Year 2023 Show

Petcover attended and sponsored the Patches and Pointed Inc. Cat of the Year 2023 show. An affiliate of the New Zealand Cat Fancy Association, this event boasted an array of absolutely stunning breeds.

Held on Saturday 2nd September at the Tauranga Racecourse, Greerton, Tauranga.

Being a safe and relaxing environment, it gave exhibitors and friends a chance to catch up and meet the new upcoming cat stars for 2023.

The Cat of the Year event had 121 entries with around 1,000 visitors across the day.

The event hosted local and international judges. Such as Fiona Hawkins GCCFSA, Deb Armishaw (Adelaide ACF International Judge), Peta Sperduty (ACF NSW), and David Crymble (ANCATTS & WCF International Judge).

Patches & Pointed Inc. tested a new and improved judging method at this event to assist owners and cats. A cat was brought out for judging only once, and the judges rotated and judged each cat accordingly. This method worked extremely well, creating less stress on the cats and kittens and therefore making the owners more at ease.

Patches and Pointed Inc. was founded in 1999 by Chris Lowe & Brenda Ward who had a vision of setting up a specialised club specifically for patched and pointed cats (therefore it would be a specialist club based on colour – the first and still the only one of its type in NZCF).

The club President is Gaynor Saxon, a dedicated, enthusiastic, and passionate advocate of the specialised club, who proudly involves herself with organising this event and other upcoming events.

Petcover looks forward to working with Patches and Pointed Inc. for possible future events, including an LPlate Cat Show in March and the Cat of the Year at Napier in September 2024.
