Partner Veterinarians – Quality and Conduct Guidelines

Our aim is to provide pet owners with comprehensive insurance cover and security. Working with veterinarians is a central part of our programme.

As a partner veterinarian, you can set up a four-week introductory insurance for puppies, kittens, birds, small mammals, reptiles or tortoises when they are examined in your practice. This provides insurance cover for veterinary treatment costs in connection with unexpected illnesses and injuries, as well as in the event of an animal’s death.

In conjunction with the terms of participation, these conduct guidelines describe the expectations for partner veterinarians offering this four-week introductory insurance.

Details of the animals

As a partner veterinarian, you have examined the animals and ensure that all puppies, kittens, small mammals, birds, reptiles and tortoises:

  1. are, to the best of your knowledge, in good health and have not been exposed to contagious or infectious diseases,
  2. have been vaccinated in accordance with usual veterinary recommendations,
  3. have been examined for signs of infestation by fleas, lice, mites or intestinal parasites,
  4. have been examined for clinical signs or symptoms of congenital or hereditary diseases or malformations,
  5. show no signs of aggressive behaviour,
  6. are not clinically overweight,
  7. are fitted with a microchip, unless this would be detrimental to the animal’s health from a veterinary perspective.
  8. The following dog breeds must additionally receive a Petcover health check form (including crossbreeds of these breeds):
  • Bulldogs (all variants)
  • Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff)
  • Shar Pei
  • Pug
  • Newfoundland
  • Leonberger
  • Greyhound
