For Veterinarians Setting Up a Four-Week Introductory Insurance
This option to set up a four-week introductory insurance is made available to veterinarians for their clients, to introduce them to the benefits of insured pet ownership.
By setting up an insurance policy for your clients’ puppies, kittens, small mammals, birds, reptiles and tortoises, you acknowledge and agree to comply with these terms of participation.
Your Eligibility to Participate
You must be a currently approved member of the Petcover Partner Programme.
General Terms of Participation
- The programme is available for puppies, kittens, birds, small mammals, reptiles and tortoises.
- All animals must have been examined by a veterinarian employed at your practice.
- Puppies and kittens must be at least 8 weeks old and younger than 1 year when insurance cover begins.
- Small mammals, birds, reptiles and tortoises must be at least 12 weeks old and younger than 1 year when insurance cover begins.
- The complimentary introductory insurance can only be set up within 24 hours of the veterinary examination, provided the animal is in good health and shows no clinical signs or symptoms of illness or injury.
- The complimentary introductory insurance can only be set up for animals that are not currently insured and for which no introductory insurance has previously been issued.
Terms of Participation for the New Pet Owner
The new pet owner must:
- be at least 18 years of age,
- have their permanent residence in Germany or Austria.
Data Protection and Legal Information
By setting up a four-week Petcover introductory insurance policy, you confirm that you have your client’s consent to transmit their personal data to Petcover for the purposes of completing the online application.
The personal data you provide will be processed in accordance with our privacy policy.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have obtained the new pet owner’s consent before setting up the four-week Petcover introductory insurance and that they agree to their personal data being passed on to Petcover.
- You establish introductory insurance policies solely in accordance with these terms of participation and ensure that the customer understands the content of the introductory insurance before commencement.
- You must not conceal or misrepresent any known material facts about the animal’s state of health.
- The complimentary introductory insurance may only be offered if the pet owner has been informed that this is an introductory insurance policy, and has been advised of the applicable waiting periods for illness and injury.The waiting periods are:
– Dogs and cats: 7 days for illness and 3 days for injury
– Small pets (exotic animals): 7 days for illness and 3 days for injury - You are obliged to provide all information completely and correctly to the best of your knowledge. Incorrect or incomplete information may result in insurance cover being withdrawn and/or benefits not being paid or only partially paid.
- If an introductory insurance policy is requested for an animal that already has a pre-existing condition, a congenital or acquired malformation, has not shown any clinical signs or symptoms of illness or injury, has never been examined by a veterinarian, or is currently or has previously received medication, this information must be provided in full. The enquiry will then be reviewed. Depending on the information provided, insurance cover may be declined or issued with additional conditions or exclusions.
- You must not provide advice regarding introductory insurance or other insurance products offered by Petcover, but may only provide information.
- You must not make a recommendation for a particular insurance product or insurer.
Establishment, modification or termination of insurance cover
- Introductory insurance can only be established within 24 hours of the animal’s veterinary examination. The insurance commences on the date of the examination.
- The animals must be in good health, including no clinical obesity, and must not show any clinical signs or symptoms of illness or injury.
- All clinical signs, symptoms, illnesses or injuries must be reported to Petcover.
- Following establishment of insurance cover, the new pet owner receives an email containing:
a. confirmation that insurance cover has been established and commences on the date you specified
b. the policy number and expiry date of the introductory insurance
c. all insurance documentation containing the full terms and conditions
d. our contact details and those of the insurer
