General Terms & Conditions
Breeder programme
This trial insurance is offered to help breeders, together with the new owners, give the puppies and kittens they have bred the best possible start in their new homes.
By participating in the Petcover Breeder Programme, you acknowledge these General Terms and Conditions and agree to comply with them.
Your eligibility
You must currently be an approved member of the Petcover Breeder Programme and meet the eligibility criteria for participation in the programme.
Eligibility criteria for puppies and kittens
- The programme is available for both pedigree puppies and kittens and for puppies and kittens without a pedigree.
- All puppies and kittens must have been bred by you personally.
- You must sell the puppies and kittens yourself. Sales via third parties, agents or employees are not permitted.
- At the time the cover begins, the puppies and kittens must be between 8 and 36 weeks old.
- The six-week trial insurance cannot be taken out for yourself, for people living with you, for your immediate family members, for people you employ as part of your breeding operation, or for people or parties who intend to resell the puppy or kitten.
Requirements for new owners
The new owner must be resident in Austria and be at least 18 years old.
Data protection and legal provisions
By taking part in a six-week trial insurance scheme via Petcover, you acknowledge that you are passing on the new owner’s personal data to Petcover.
The personal data collected as part of the trial insurance policy will be processed in accordance with Petcover’s current privacy policy.
Before you submit the new owner’s details to Petcover via your breeder portal, please ensure that they consent to their data being shared. Petcover will handle the remaining steps, including setting up the six-week trial insurance and sending out the insurance documents.
In doing so, you must confirm that the new owner consents to their data being passed on to us.
Please draw the new owner’s attention to our privacy policy. This is available on our website and will be provided to the new owner as part of the sign-up process.
- You must inform the new owner, before the insurance cover begins, of the option of a free, no-obligation trial policy in accordance with these General Terms and Conditions. The decision on whether to take up the trial policy rests solely with the new owner.
- You must not knowingly withhold or misrepresent any material facts known to you regarding the puppy’s or kitten’s state of health.
- You must not provide advice on either the trial insurance or any other insurance products offered by us or other insurers.
- You must not recommend any specific insurance product or any specific insurance provider.
Conclusion, amendment or termination of the insurance
When you agree to sell a puppy or kitten, you should inform the new owner that the puppy or kitten can be insured for six weeks.
You must also confirm that the new owner consents to their personal data being passed on to us.
The trial insurance can be arranged no earlier than 24 hours before and no later than 24 hours after the animal is collected.
The puppies and kittens should be in good health and must not have shown any clinical signs or symptoms of illness or injury prior to collection by the new owner.
Any clinical signs, symptoms, illnesses or injuries must be disclosed to the new owner and reported to us before or at the time of collection of the puppy or kitten.
Once the details have been processed and we have arranged the insurance cover, we will send the new owner an email which:
- confirms that the insurance cover has been arranged and begins on the collection date you have specified;
- includes the insurance policy number and the expiry date of the cover;
- includes the full terms and conditions of insurance and further information on the cover;
- contains our contact details and the insurer’s details.
- If the puppy or kitten is returned to you by the new owner, you should notify us as soon as possible by email at petpartners@petcovergroup.com.
- We will then cancel the insurance.
- As soon as you have received confirmation from us that the trial insurance has been terminated, trial insurance can be offered again for this puppy or kitten, provided the requirements for this are still met.
